QIAGEN is a global molecular diagnostics company that operates in 25 different countries and serves over 500,000 customers around the world.

Project overview

QIAGEN's expansive portfolio of products and complex navigation menu often left customers struggling to find what they were looking for. When QIAGEN was looking to update its searchable database of publications, this became an opportunity to upgrade the search functionality for the entire website.

QIAGEN has so many different products that navigating the menu is a daunting experience.

My role

As a Digital Marketing Project Manager at Supreme Optimization, a marketing agency for life science companies, I worked with QIAGEN for account management and coordinating UX and SEO strategists and web developers for the maintenance and optimization of the qiagen.com website.

When QIAGEN wanted to replace a legacy searchable citations database on their website with Ninja Tables, I managed the project of replacing the database and website search with Algolia, a much more powerful and responsive real-time search solution.

Objective

Replace the legacy citations database on qiagen.com. Create a smooth user experience for searching and filtering publications.

Execution

Consulted the client and analyzed the citations database search functionality and the client's preferred replacement option, Ninja Tables. Recommended Algolia as a more effective and scaleable option that can also be used for the general website search.

Managed the transition to a new web development team during the citations database update. Provided wireframing and UX guidance and had regular meetings with the client to ensure the new citations database page aligned with client goals and requirements.

Coordinated the client, web developers, and QA team members to develop a new searchable citations database and website search functionality with Algolia.

Results

Reduced the citations and website search result load times to under 20 milliseconds. Developed an intuitive user experience for searching and filtering citations. Exceeded the client's expectations by recommending and implementing a fast, responsive, and scaleable long-term website search solution.
